PRIVATE COMPANIES

Private companies are much harder to research than public companies because they are not required to tell the public anything about their earnings, finances, acquisitions, officer salaries, or other matters that public companies must reveal.
Some research tools cover public companies only. These may mention investment somewhere in their title or description. An example would be Standard & Poor's Stock Reports.
Other sources cover both. An example would be the Million Dollar Database.
