BABY & ME / TODDLER Storytime:
A program of rhymes, songs, fingerplays, and books for babies from birth through 35 months old and their caregivers.
Tuesday Evening Book Discussion
Join us at the Gates Mills Branch Library for a discussion of *Sarah's Key* by Tatiana de Rosnay. Set in Paris in 1942 and the present, alternate chapters tell of young Sarah caught in the holocaust and adult Julia who needs to face her own issues to bring about change in her life. This beautifully written story offers the reader a historical look at relationships and the human condition. Everyone is welcomed to attend the discussion. Wednesday Night Book Discussion
Join us at the Gates Mills Branch Library for a discussion of *Cocktail Hour Under the Tree of Forgetfulness* by Alexandra Fuller. In her fourth memoir, Fuller revisits her vibrant, spirited parents, first introduced in *Don't Let's Go To the Dogs Tonight: An African Childhood* (2002). A story of survival and madness, love and war, loyalty and forgiveness, this is an intimate exploration of the author's one-of-a-kind family. Witty, evocative and beautifully written. Cleveland Collectors: Severance and Greta Milliken
Come to the Gates Mills Branch Library as the Cleveland Art Museum offers a program on Severance (1895-1985) and Greta (1903-1989) Millikin collected what would become some of the Art Museum's beloved objects. Come here about their glamorous life and stunning collections. The Wonderful World of Bubbles

Music for Kids and Parents with Chip Richter
This is "live" music, no accompaniment tracks, so anything can happen at the Gates Mills Branch Library! With his guitar, banjo, harmonica, stories and original tunes Chip connects with the kids and adults, creating moments to remember. Chip Richter is "more fun than a Kid (or Parent) should be allowed to have!" It's the high-energy fun and excitement that naturally comes from a "live" performance all in the wonderful learning environment of a public library. Technology Petting Zoo
Come to the Gates Mills Branch Library to take technology for a test drive. Visit our Technology Petting Zoo for hands-on interaction with iPads, iPods, Kindles, Nooks and more. Staff from Tech Wise LLC will be available to answer questions and share tips for interacting with your library through technology. Stop in and give something new a try! Dancing on a Dream
Come to the Gates Mills Branch Library to experience a very moving dream. Mary, who was born with spina bifida, dreamed of being able to dance as a child even though she was in a wheelchair. Now as an adult, she has extended the possibility of people with all kinds of abilities to perform together. The piece, entitled "Dancing On A Dream" shows the struggles and triumphs of Mary's life, the perseverance of keeping a physically integrated dance company alive, and ultimately making her dream to dance despite her disability a reality. Dancing Wheels by Patricia McMahon and John Godt, describes the creation, training, and performances of The Dancing Wheels Company. Registration requested for this free family event (440-423-4808). Sunny D. Lite and her henchman Cumulo Nimbus have stolen the greatest treasure in the world! Where did it go and how can Agent 007-1/2 get it back before it's too late? Will the Mission Is Possible Force find the treasure, save the planet and reconcile Mother Nature with her favorite Sun? They will with your help as a Secret Agent! Cleveland Orchestra Community Concert Preview
Join us at the Gates Mills Branch Library as Cleveland Orchestra's Dr. Rose Breckinridge previews the 2012 Blossom Festival. The program will give an overview of the 2012 Blossom Festival with focus on the concert of August 11 featuring the “new pianist star” Yuja Wang playing Tchaikovsky’s First Piano Concerto. And come relax before the program with lunch at Sara's Place next door with a discount for those coming to the program after lunch. The preview, geared to both new and experienced music lovers, will include background on the composers and compositions, plus guided listening to musical excerpts. ART SERIES
Laurie Jacobs: Photographs
The Gates Mills Branch Library’s 2012 Art Series continues with the photographs of Laurie Jacobs. “Laurie’s photographs have been incorporated into textile constructions, displayed as original images and used as the components for highly manipulated works of art. Her photography has relied upon the human figure as well as natural features of the animal and botanic worlds. All of her images have a consistent organic theme with a close focus.” The art show will run from May 1st through June 17th. For more information contact the branch library (440-423-4808).
The 3,500 square foot Gates Mills branch of Cuyahoga County Public Library was built in 2006 by the Friends and residents of Gates Mills. They can be proud of their library that stands as a symbol of their commitment to the future of the community.

An important part of libraries is preserving the past. During the Summer of 2011 Cuyahoga County Public Library assisted the Gates Mills Historical Society in scanning old photos and documents. These images can be viewed on the Gates Mills part of the Cleveland Memory website.
